Who is Tomasz Kedziora? Aston Villa star Matty Cash booked for message

Aston Villa's Matty Cash caught the eye in more ways than one during his side's Premier League clash with Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday.

Cash netted in the 17th minute of the contest and subsequently lifted his shirt up to reveal a handwritten message on his vest.

It read: "Tomasz Kedziora and family. Stay strong my bro".

The right-back is a Polish international, having qualified for citizenship through his mother.

Kedziora is one of his international team-mates, and also plies his trade for Ukrainian side Dynamo Kyiv, who are based in the country's capital city, which Russian troops are currently targeting with artillery fire, as well as air and missile attacks.

The Russian invasion has been roundly condemned around the world, with various members of the footballing family doing their bit to show solidarity.

Ukrainians have been fleeing the country in fear, while fixtures in Ukraine have been postponed until further notice.

Cash's international colleague Kedziora remains in Kyiv, and he was clearly keen to show his support, although referee John Brooks, who promptly brandished a yellow card.

It comes after Poland announced it would boycott their World Cup play-off with Russia next month.

Polish FA president Cezary Kulesza tweeted: “No more words, time to act! Due to the escalation of the aggression of the Russian Federation towards Ukraine, the Polish national team does not intend to play the play-off match against Russia.

“This is the only right decision. We are in talks with the federations of Sweden and the Czech Republic to bring forward a common position to FIFA.”
