Noussair Mazraoui wants 'something new' amid Aston Villa and Everton transfer talk

Aston Villa are set to join a number of clubs in the race to sign Ajax's highly rated right-back, Noussair Mazraoui, according to Fichajes.

The 24-year-olds current deal is due to expire this summer, with Edwin Van der Sar admitting they will likely lose the player in the near future. He stated: "We've lost months in negotiations. We'd like to keep (Mazraoui) but now it's the middle of December so you know where it's going."

The January transfer window has recently passed and Mazraoui was linked heavily with a move away from the Dutch club throughout the month. With his agent, Mino Raiola claiming he had met with officials of Barcelona during this time. He was keen to explain however that for the moment, no agreement had been made with the Spanish giants.

Recent links have emerged linking Villa 's current right-back, Matty Cash, with a move to Atletico Madrid in the summer, with a rumoured £40million price tag circulating. This could outline why Villa - along with the likes of Everton and Barcelona - are currently being linked with a player of Mazraoui's profile.

It would be another high profile and impressive deal if Villa were to complete this free transfer, as the club would be acquiring a truly world class talent whilst also beating several clubs to the signature in the process.

Gerrard has already displayed the pulling power he has in terms of big signings and this would once again be another statement made.

When questioned regarding his future, Mazraoui stated this: "That’s a good question. I think the chances of me remaining at Ajax are very small, maybe 5 per cent.

“I am open for something new, I have played here for 16 years and I think it’s a good moment to leave.”
