Aston Villa fans rave as Steven Gerrard reveals huge Newcastle double boost

Aston Villa fans have been discussing Steven Gerrard's team for the Newcastle United game today.

Gerrard has been able to call upon Emiliano Buendia for the trip to St James' Park after fears the player would be absent after picking up a hip injury against Leeds United in midweek.

The Villa boss has made only one change, an unforced one, to the side that drew 3-3 with Leeds United on Wednesday.

Ezri Konsa is suspended for a couple of matches after getting sent off for two yellow cards against Leeds with Calum Chambers, the January signing from Arsenal, taking his place alongside Tyrone Mings at the back.

Ollie Watkins keeps his place despite going four games without a goal and with Danny Ings breathing down his neck for a place in Gerrard's starting lineup.

Along with the Buendia boost, there is also the return of Leon Bailey from a thigh injury that has kept him out since the start of December.

Gerrard is getting key players back fit, and Bailey's comeback is huge.

" Bailey back on the bench, big game this," one Villa fan said on social media. "A result here would really kick start the end of the season."

"Seeing Bailey on the bench makes me happy man," another added while a third fan said: "Bailey back on the bench is a massive boost."

A fourth supporter added: "Buendía fit and Bailey on the bench," while another said: "Buendia fit enough to start and Bailey on the bench."

Other absentees for the Newcastle game are Bertrand Traore (hamstring) and Marvelous Nakamba (knee), the former picking up a new injury during the Africa cup of Nations while the latter remains sidelined after a knee operation.
