Aston Villa head coach Steven Gerrard responds to Rangers captain's Instagram post
Steven Gerrard may have left Rangers to join Aston Villa last November but he still looks out for the results of the Scottish giants if James Tavernier's post is anything to go by.
The Ibrox side enjoyed a quite stunning result in the Europa Conference League this week as they beat Borussia Dortmund 4-2 in their own backyard.
It was a stunning performance from Rangers against a team many have feared in Europe and they were well worth their brilliant win.
Tavernier toasted the success in a post on Instagram with a message to all Rangers fans which said: "What a night. Unbelievable performance against a top side. Thank you to all the travelling supporters."
Underneath many of the responses was one from Villa head coach Gerrard who simply posted two flame emojis.
Gerrard's assistant at Villa, Michael Beale, also posted a big heart emoji with the words: "Go on the boys."
Tavernier played a crucial role in Rangers' win as he scored from the penalty spot before his corner was flicked on by Joe Aribo for Alfredo Morelos to tap in.
John Lundstram made it three before Jude Bellingham struck for Dortmund on 51 minutes but Dan-Axel Zagadou scored an own goal to make it 4-1 to the Gers, before Raphael Guerreiro scored with eight minutes remaining.
