Aston Villa ace tipped to 'go right to the top' after impressing boss

Aston Villa sent Aaron Ramsey out on loan to League One side Cheltenham Town recently and his manager believes he has all the qualities to go "right to the top".

Ramsey made his debut as a substitute in the 1-0 defeat to Rotherham United on January 22, and his manager Michael Duff has been itching to use him since.

GloucestershireLive report that his manager has been impressed by what he's seen from the loanee so far and is eager to involve him in the line-up once again.

Ramsey was an unused substitute in the goalless draw with Wigan Athletic on Saturday and Duff stated: "AJ is a good player and I was desperate to put him on (against Wigan)," Duff said.

"Because it was so nip and tuck and he's 19 years old, it's having the nerve to put him on in such a close game.

"But trust me he's a good player - we see it in training all the time and he has a chance of going right to the top."

Ramsey impressed throughout pre-season and even managed to get on the scoresheet against Walsall. Ramsey also went on to impress in the EFL Trophy against several League One opponents, such as Milton Keynes Dons where he recorded a goal and assist for the U21s in the 4-2 win.

Aaron is following in the footsteps of his older brother Jacob, who went on loan to League One side Doncaster Rovers in the 2019/20 season and made a total of seven appearances, scoring three goals.

Aaron will now be hoping that when he returns, he can replicate his brother's rise in to the first team under Steven Gerrard.
