Ashford United sign left-back Joey Taylor from Whitehawk and Dorking midfielder Jack Saunders on loan

Ashford have made two more signings as Danny Kedwell continues to shape his squad for the new season.

Left-back Joey Taylor has joined from Whitehawk while midfielder Jack Saunders arrives on a six-month loan from National League South Dorking.

Kedwell has worked with Montserrat international Taylor at Cray Wanderers and Chatham and sees him as a major asset.

“He’s got great qualities,” said boss Kedwell.

“He’s good on the ball, he’s a hardworking player and he’s a good person as well, good in the changing room.

“He’s a top player and the amount of assists he gets from a left-back is something you need in your team.

“You need those sorts of players.

“His dead-ball deliveries are some of the best I’ve seen around these leagues, to be fair.

“He really does put a great ball in.”

Saunders was recommended to Kedwell by Dorking player and ex-Gillingham team-mate Barry Fuller.

“He’s got a bright future, this kid,” said Kedwell.

“He’s a young lad, energetic and great on the ball.

“He’s a very good player and, looking at him in the last two training sessions, he’s mature as well for such a young age.

“He’s got a real presence, too.

“Dorking have got a special talent on their hands there.

“It’s great to have him and he’ll come here with me and get regular men’s football.

“I know Marc White (Dorking manager) anyway but it was Barry Fuller who told me about him and then I went to watch him play.

“I’ve said before I want that balance in the team.

“I’ve got my experience in and we’ve got youth around them.

“It’s all coming together really nicely. We’ve got the existing players from last year and we’ve added to that.

“Training looked very good on Tuesday night.”

Kedwell is close to announcing a new goalkeeper and there could be another
