Ash Barty: Emma Raducanu 'took inspiration' from Aussie star
The tennis world is still getting to grips with the shock announcement of Ashleigh Barty’s retirement.
Earlier this week, the world number one dropped the bombshell that she would be stepping away from the court and calling time on her iconic career.
At just 25 years of age, Barty retires as a tennis legend and the current Wimbledon and Australian Open champion.
The news left the Aussie’s peers stunned and there has since been an outpouring of love and support as many celebrate her distinguished career.
Andy Murray said he is “happy for Barty” but “gutted for tennis”, while Serena Williams admitted she was “sad to read” the announcement but is happy for her to start a new chapter, stressing she will be supporting her “close up and afar.”
