Asda shoppers vow to boycott supermarket after announcement

Asda is set to overhaul its popular discount offerings, prompting some customers to consider boycotting the supermarket. The retailer has announced that it will remove Star Products from its Asda Rewards scheme, with a message to members stating that the change will take effect from Thursday.

Shoppers currently earn 10% of the price back into their Cashpots when purchasing Star Products, which can then be converted into vouchers for discounts on future Asda shops according to the terms and conditions.

The decision to scrap this part of the loyalty programme comes ahead of an anticipated major revamp, which is expected to bring about the largest Rollback price reductions in years. An Asda spokesperson hinted at exciting developments, saying there's "much more to come, through Asda Rewards and across our stores".

The news has been met with mixed reactions from Asda customers. One disgruntled shopper exclaimed: "It looks like me shopping somewhere else then."

Another commented: "Oh well, back to Tesco then where (we) will get Clubcard points", reports Birmingham Live. Meanwhile, a third customer shared: "I was quite impressed this week with Rollback.
