Arva and Listowel Emmets through to All-Ireland junior football final

Cavan's Arva and Listowel Emmets from Kerry are through to the AIB All-Ireland junior football final.

Arva accounted for Kildare's Miltown on a 2-16 to 1-07 scoreline at The Downs in Mullingar.

Barry Donnelly's first-half goal, after an exquisite delivery from Kevin Bouchier, helped the side from the Breffni County establish a 1-08 to 0-04 advantage at the break. A somewhat fortuitous from Ronan O'Shea gave Listowel some hope on the resumption but Arva always looked in control, with Bouchier, who kicked seven points, Donnelly and Jonathan McCabe keeping the scoreboard ticking over.

Sub Paul Finnegan netted Arva's late on to close out the 12-point victory.

At Glenisk O'Connor Park, Listowel Emmets were too good for Mayo's Lahardane MacHales, winning by 1-11 to 0-03.

Ahead by 1-08 to 0-01 at the break, the second period was a mere procession for the Kingdom side.

Bryan Sweeney capitalised on a short kickout to net Listowel's goal on 19 minutes, while David Keane chipped in five points. Darragh Walsh and James Maughan raised white flags late on for the westerners.

Croke Park will host the junior decider on Sunday 14 January.
