Arsenal target Julian Brandt is set to leave Borussia Dortmund this summer as the German team looks to shake up their squad ahead of next season.

Brandt, 25, was signed by Dortmund from Bayer Leverkusen three years ago and has scored seven goals and recorded eight assists in the Bundesliga this term.

Before the Gunners brought in Martin Odegaard from Real Madrid last year, Brandt was a player Mikel Arteta was closely looking at as an alternative to the Norweigian playmaker.

Despite his current contract not running out until 2024, according to Bild, Dortmund are keen to let Brandt go at the end of the season and a deal with a Premier League club is likely.

The report goes on to say that the midfielder could be available for a fee of just £16.5 million as Dortmund manager Marco Rose wants to bring in some new faces for next season.

Arsenal may revisit a move for the German this summer considering their team’s lack of creativity and goals in the Premier League this term, having scored the joint lowest amount in the top-seven.

Meanwhile, European qualification may mean the north London side will need a bigger squad for the next campaign and will not be able to rely on just Odegaard especially if record signing Nicolas Pepe moves on.

However, the Gunners will need to juggle their finances to fund a move for Brandt with a striker, central-midfielder and two full-backs also believed to be on Arteta’s summer wishlist.

Speaking earlier this year, Arteta acknowledged the need to bulk up his squad if Arsenal qualify for Europe next season.

He said: ‘I think both competitions (the Champions League and Europa League) require a much larger squad because the amount of games you play is much bigger in both, so I don’t think (what
