Arsenal: Ben Jacobs drops Yeremy Pino claim at the Emirates

Arsenal director Edu was likely not travelling to meet with the agents of Villarreal winger Yeremy Pino in the aftermath of the 4-2 victory over Leicester City, according to CBS reporter Ben Jacobs.

Mikel Arteta’s side put in an impressive display as they brushed the Foxes aside in north London but the focus quickly switched back to transfer dealings after the final whistle.

According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, the La Liga side would consider offers in the region of £42 million.

Liverpool have also been linked, according to AS, and the race is on to land the 19-year-old ahead of the September 1 deadline.

Arsenal’s interest in bolstering their wide options became apparent when they entered the race to sign Raphinha from Leeds before the Brazilian opted to join Barcelona.

Rumours surfaced after the victory over Leicester that Edu had immediately boarded a plane to Spain, with the suggestion being that he was meeting with Pino’s agent.

However, Jacobs has moved to dispel that rumour.

The reporter has suggested that, if Edu wanted to meet Pino’s agent, he did not need to leave the country at all.

Jacobs told GIVEMESPORT: “I don’t think specifically, from what I understand, that Edu travelled to Spain to actually meet Pino’s agents. That’s one of those stories that takes off on social media but doesn’t necessarily have a massive amount of substance to it. I don’t even think that Pino’s agents are even based where Edu was travelling to, I think that they’re based in the UK. So if Edu wanted to talk to Pino’s agents then he could have done it without jumping on a plane.”

The 19-year-old is certainly an exciting prospect, having bagged 14 goals and five assists in 78 appearances for Villarreal.
