Arsenal and Tottenham prepare for James Maddison scramble as Leicester playmaker could leave the club this summer

Leicester City midfielder James Maddison could be on his way to North London if speculation is to be believed but any move for the England international would not come cheap.

Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly admirers of the player though Maddison has two years remaining on his contract at the King Power and the ‘Foxes’ are seeking a transfer fee in the region of £60 million.

The 25-year-old enjoyed a loan spell at Aberdeen earlier in his career and famously netted a decisive 90th minute free-kick against Rangers when the teams met in a thriller back in 2016.

The Gunners were thought as favourites to sign him last summer though they elected to go with Martin Odegaard and the Norwegian was keen to show that Mikel Arteta had made the right decision when playing a major part in their 2-0 victory over Leicester at the Emirates last month.

Antonio Conte is known to be a fan of the player though a move would require a significant juggling of the pack at Spurs.

Dele Alli has already gone to Everton – removing one big earner off the books – but Tanguy Ndomble has been deemed surplus to requirements and the club have reportedly been looking to offload him despite what has largely been considered to be a successful loan spell at Lyon.

Argentine central midfielder Giovani Lo Celso impressed for Villareal against Bayern Munich last week but it is understood that the club would be happy for the loan arrangement to become permanent as Conte seeks to bring more of an attacking edge to his midfield.
