Arsenal: £50m star ‘would want’ move to Emirates

Arsenal target Pedro Neto would ‘want to go’ to the north London outfit this summer if a bid arrives, according to journalist Josh Holland.

The Gunners have enjoyed a scintillating start to the Premier League season, winning their opening four games and could look to strengthen their first-team squad even further ahead of Thursday’s deadline.

Mikel Arteta has already brought in the likes of Gabriel Jesus, Fabio Vieira and Oleksandr Zinchenko in the current transfer window to build on their promising showing last term.

However, several fringe players have also departed the Emirates Stadium, with Alexandre Lacazette, Bernd Leno and Nicolas Pepe seeking pastures new after dropping down the pecking order.

And it’s Pepe’s departure on a season-long loan deal to Ligue 1 outfit Nice that may force Arteta to bring in an additional acquisition over the next few days.

Arsenal currently have Gabriel Martinelli, Bukayo Saka, Emile Smith Rowe and Reiss Nelson to call upon out wide, yet with the return of European football imminent, they may desire greater strength in depth.

Nelson hasn’t started a Premier League game for his boyhood club since 2019/20, while Smith Rowe has only featured in 22 minutes of action so far this season due to injury issues.

David Ornstein of The Athletic reported that Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Neto is Arsenal’s ‘top target at present’, and Holland believes he would be keen to make the switch.

He told GiveMeSport: “I don’t think Wolves would allow Neto, such a big player, to go this late in the transfer window.

“Whether Neto would go to Arsenal, I think Arsenal are one of the most promising projects in the Premier League at the moment.

“So, if the move was right for Neto, I think he would want to go.
