Arnaut Danjuma has just sent Manchester United a second message they can't ignore

Cristiano Ronaldo delivered when Manchester United needed him most when Villarreal played away at Old Trafford in the Champions League in September. Ronaldo scored with just seconds of injury time remaining, to dramatically win the match 2-1 for United.

United went on to finish the season with their lowest Premier League points total of all time and they also equalled the club's longest drought for 40 years — yet it could have been a lot worse without Ronaldo's interventions. The 37-year-old scored 24 goals in 39 appearances and the dressing room was indebted to his contribution, as they were under the floodlights against Villarreal.

The La Liga side were the better team that night. United's players would have thanked Ronaldo for saving their blushes as they returned to the dressing room, but one particular player, Diogo Dalot, would have been more grateful than the others. Dalot had endured a nightmare at the Theatre of Dreams as Arnaut Danjuma ruthlessly exposed his shortcomings.

Danjuma toyed with Dalot in the first half and it was painful to watch. The Portuguese's positional awareness — which was exacerbated by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's tactical change — was hopeless and Danjuma took full advantage. Dalot couldn't get close to him.

In the first half, Danjuma forced David de Gea into making two saves and came close to providing Paco Alcacer with an assist after making a mockery of Dalot once again. Danjuma was dancing past his full-back with ease and his teammates were aware of his superiority, seemingly playing the ball down the left channel whenever in possession. Dalot had become Villarreal's target.
