Ardova Handball: Grasshoppers shocks Defender Babes as Dynamos beat Confluence Star

Imo Grasshoppers of Owerri on Thursday shocked Defender Babes 27-25 in the Ardova Premier Handball League, which comes to an end on Saturday.

Grasshoppers, who have not had the best of time for several years, held their own against a younger Defender Babes to record the famous win. The game was close, but the Grasshoppers made the better use of the chances they got, especially towards the end of the game to emerge victorious.

In other games in the female category, Delta Queens lost to Safety Babes 32-35. Both teams gave a good account of themselves as they battled hard for a win but Safety Babes relied on experience to win the game.

With the victory, the Safety Babes maintained their top position on the table as they remain favourite to win the league. Bendel Dynamos woes continued as they lost to Rima Queens 24-34 and the aim is escape relegation.

Also, Seasiders Babes defeated Benue Queens 25-19 to better their standing on the table.

In the male category, Confluence Stars lost to Bendel Dynamos 24–32, while Correction Boys defeated Lagos Seasiders 21-20.
