Antony v Darwin Nunez: Man Utd-bound man and Liverpool star clashed in 2022
Manchester United are on the verge of signing Antony.
The Red Devils have agreed to pay Ajax £85m for the Brazilian forward, per BBC Sport.
Antony is due to arrive in Manchester to complete a medical this week.
The 22-year-old is set to become United’s fifth summer arrival. Lisandro Martinez, Casemiro, Tyrell Malacia and Christian Eriksen have all already completed moves to the club.
His arrival makes United’s games against Liverpool even more interesting.
That’s because Antony has history of clashing with the Reds’ star striker, Darwin Nunez.
In February 2022, the two players came to blows in the Champions League last-16 first leg tie between Benfica and Ajax.
The two players tussled for the ball in Benfica’s half with the match locked at 2-2 in the 86th minute.
They squared up to each other and Nunez fell to the ground in pain after a ‘headbutt’ from the Brazilian.
Antony was subsequently given a yellow card.
The two made up, though, as they embraced following the scuffle. Watch the moment below…
Antony will count himself VERY lucky not to be suspended for the second leg!
