Man Utd: Fabrizio Romano drops Cristiano Ronaldo update at Old Trafford
Manchester United’s transfer deadline day plans may well depend on what happens regarding the future of Cristiano Ronaldo at Old Trafford, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Erik ten Hag has overseen a hectic few months of business in his new role but may still be able to strengthen further ahead of tonight’s 11pm cut-off.
At the start of the summer, The Times reported that Ronaldo had informed United that he wanted to leave the club in order to continue playing in the Champions League.
As the squad returned for pre-season training, he once again emphasised his desire to leave Old Trafford and also missed some of their pre-season preparations.
United were initially adamant that they would not sell the icon, after he only returned to the club last summer, but Ten Hag later shifted his stance and is now open to Ronaldo leaving.
Deadline day has already seen United bolster their front-line after confirming the arrival of Antony from Ajax for £82 million.
The Brazilian became Ten Hag’s fifth signing of the summer, following Lisandro Martinez, Tyrell Malacia, Christian Eriksen and Casemiro into the club.
Meanwhile, goalkeeper Martin Dubravka is also closing in on a move to the Theatre Of Dreams after agreeing personal terms on a departure from Newcastle on loan.
Romano understands that any more signings United are able to carry out on deadline day could be dependent on Ronaldo leaving.
The likes of Memphis Depay and Victor Osimhen have been linked in recent days, but the journalist says there is nothing advanced with the pair as of yet.
Romano told GIVEMESPORT: “It can be the case it depends on Cristiano. I think it depends on what is going to happen in the next hours with Cristiano Ronaldo. As of now, they are not in advanced
