Antonio Conte's emotional reaction says it all about Billy Gilmour as Napoli title charge picks up steam
Billy Gilmour was given a warm embrace by Antonio Conte after helping Napoli continue their Serie A title surge with a fine 2-0 away win against Milan at San Siro.
The Scotland star has had to wait for opportunities following his £12million switch from Brighton last summer but is beginning to establish himself under ex Chelsea and Juventus boss Conte, starting his third straight league game against Milan. First half goals from Romelu Lukaku and Kvicha Kvaratskhelia were enough to claim a fifth straight Serie A victory for the Naples side, who now sit seven points clear at the top of the table having played a game more than nearest challengers Inter.
As Gilmour walked off the pitch after being substituted in second half injury time, he was given a passionate hug by his manager, who is hoping to become a Serie A champion for a third time in his managerial career, having already lifted the Scudetto with Juve and Inter. Gilmour's teammate for club and country Scott McTominay has already cemented himself as a key cog in Conte's side and put in another impressive showing at San Siro on Tuesday night as Napoli's flying start to the campaign gathered more momentum.
