Transfer approach revealed for Bristol City star amid Celtic and West Ham interest

Belgian top-tier side Anderlecht launched an enquiry for the services of Bristol City striker Antoine Semenyo, an advance that was rejected according to Bristol Live who made this transfer revelation.

The 22-year-old has been the subject of widespread interest in recent months with Championship rivals Nottingham Forest even submitting a bid in January in an attempt to lure the Robins’ talisman to the City Ground.

However, they aren’t alone in the race with Fulham, former Scottish Premiership champions Celtic and Premier League clubs Brighton, Crystal Palace and West Ham also monitoring his current situation at Ashton Gate.

This interest comes as no real surprise with Semenyo recording six goals and seven assists in his last 14 league appearances for Nigel Pearson’s men, previously enduring a tough season but managing to bounce back and establish himself as an integral part of his current side’s first team.

With this, he has re-established himself as one of the first names on the teamsheet for the second-tier side and thankfully for his current club, they hold most of the power at the negotiating table if transfer approaches are made in the summer, with his deal not running out until 2024 if the option to extend his contract by a further 12 months is triggered.

This has been reinforced by this morning’s transfer report that Anderlecht have been rejected after asking about the 22-year-old’s availability.

Last month, it was revealed by journalist Dean Jones (via Give Me Sport) that he would cost any interested side around £15m as things stand, though it’s currently unclear as to whether Vincent Kompany’s men would be willing to meet that valuation.
