Anthony Joshua next fight announced already after Daniel Dubois defeat

Anthony Joshua's promoter, Eddie Hearn, is confident that despite the recent defeat, Joshua will go head-to-head with Daniel Dubois once more.

In a disappointing turn at Wembley Stadium on Saturday, Joshua, 34, failed to clinch the IBF heavyweight world title after being knocked out in the fifth round by the 27-year-old Dubois. But a rematch seems likely, with Joshua poised for another shot against Dubois, reports the Mirror.

Post-bout, with 96,000 fans having witnessed the knockout at the national stadium, Matchroom Boxing's Hearn expressed certainty in the ring: "I am sure he'll exercise that rematch clause. I think that's a given.

"But he'll need a rest and it's a dangerous fight. This guy [Dubois] is growing in confidence all the time but he'll believe he can hurt Dubois. He'll believe he can beat him. But full credit to Daniel Dubois, he deserves all the credit tonight, it was a great performance from Daniel."

Frank Warren, promoting Dubois, has his eyes set on a bigger prize, advocating for a contest with Oleksandr Usyk next. "Oleksandr Usyk is considered to be at the moment the best heavyweight in the world and he gave him at that time his toughest fight, there's no doubt about that," Warren stated, reflecting on their initial clash in 2023.
