Shoppers snap up HP Chromebook laptops for £49 in 'better than Black Friday' sale

Anyone who's shopped for a new laptop recently will know the feeling of getting all excited by the descriptions and reviews before realising that it costs £1000 or more. Some laptops might be ludicrously priced, but that doesn't mean you can't still find a bargain if you look hard enough.

In fact, if you head to Wowcher you can choose from an HP, Acer or Dell 2-in-1 Chromebook starting from an astonishing £49 for the HP Chromebook 11A G6 option, £59 for an Acer Chromebook 11 Spin or £79 for a Dell Chromebook 11. All three represent great choices, although it's worth underlining that these are refurbished laptops, rather than brand-new ones.

Whichever you choose, you'll get a nice slim 11.6-inch design that pairs well with travel, work or study. Being Chromebooks, they run ChromeOS and therefore might be a little different to use compared to Windows or a Mac. You basically work entirely in the cloud, on Google Docs and other services. 4GB of RAM is enough to keep web browsing ticking over, while a 32GB SSD will make for quick storage, but not a huge amount of space for files.

Because Wowcher doesn't carry user reviews, you can't get a sense of how people have found their laptops after buying them, although doing some research into the used Chromebook market could prove illuminating on this front. However, you can also learn plenty by shopping for alternative low-cost options.

At Currys, for example, you could get a much newer Chromebook if you don't mind spending a little more. The Samsung Galaxy GO with LTE is £179 and comes with more recent components. Its 12-hour battery life will outdo the Wowcher options, as will its 64GB of onboard storage.

Only slightly more expensive is the much chunkier and big-screened HP
