'Another moan up' - Man United great Andy Cole criticises Bruno Fernandes incident vs Newcastle

Andy Cole criticised Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes for having 'another moan' in the Reds' defeat to Newcastle United on Sunday.

Erik ten Hag's side suffered a disappointing 2-0 loss at St. James' Park, with the Magpies leapfrogging the Reds in the Premier League table as a result of their win. The Reds currently sit fourth in the top-flight table, but Tottenham can also move above United if they beat Everton on Monday night.

During the first half of the clash with Newcastle, Fernandes appealed for a penalty, suggesting he had been clipped inside the box by Fabian Schar. However, Stuart Attwell was quick to wave play on and dismiss the Portuguese ace's penalty shout. The 28-year-old continued to protest in the direction of the official.

Fernandes is not afraid to make his feelings known, but former Reds striker Cole insisted that United's number eight was simply having 'another moan up'.

"Nowhere near a penalty," Cole told Premier League Productions. "I think as players we know if it’s a penalty or not because his teammates would be supporting him 100%. It’s not a penalty, but it’s Bruno (Fernandes) having another moan up."

Cole, who made 275 appearances for United, winning five Premier League titles, also criticised Marcus Rashford for his role in Callum Wilson's goal. The Newcastle striker headed home from a corner to give Howe's men a 2-0 lead late on in the clash.

He added: "If you look at the position Callum Wilson finds himself in for the second goal, he’s dropped his shoulder three or four times. Rashford doesn’t know where he is. You’ve got to give everything to clear that ball, Wilson’s got a clear header.
