Ange Postecoglou reacts to Tottenham done deal claim as Celtic boss shuts down exit talk

Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou has attempted to shut down talk of a Parkhead exit as he insists he is focusing only on the Scottish Cup Final.

The Parkhead boss was speaking ahead of the Hampden showdown with Inverness as speculation snowballed over a move to north London for the 57-year-old. Postecoglou's odds were slashed to become the next Tottenham manager as it emerged the Greek-Australian was the "preferred candidate" in the eyes of Daniel Levy.

Celtic are guaranteed Champions League football next season but he is expected to asked the question over becoming the man to lead a revamp of a side who need leadership and skipper Harry Kane is entering the final 12 months of his contract with significant interest in from Manchester United and Bayern Munich.

He said: "Someone else was favourite again last week. It doesn't register. I get why people like to speculate on these things and we have worked really hard to get into this position. For me, to let myself wander to anything other than getting our team prepared for a big day on Saturday is not who I am.

"You make it sound like it is the first time it has happened to me. We've done this dance a few times this year. The players are well aware of where my thoughts lie."

Postecoglou also dismissed claims that he will chat with the Celtic hierarchy over his future. He responded: “No because that would mean me planning, organising, thinking about anything other than Saturday.

“For me I woke up this morning thinking about one thing, the same thing I’ve been thinking about for the last seven days. We want to make sure we play well in this cup final and make it a truly special season.”
