Ange 'not relaxed' over Harry Kane Tottenham transfer saga and wants resolution over striker's future

Ange Postecoglou admits he's “not relaxed” about Harry Kane’s contract situation.

The Tottenham skipper has reportedly said he WON’T sign a new deal and wants a move to Bayern Munich, who have seen bids rejected by Spurs for the England striker star. Postecoglou has only been in the door a few weeks since leaving Celtic and already is facing prospect of losing his talisman, if not in this window, for nothing next summer.

Postecoglou regularly brushed off speculation while at Parkhead as nothing to worry about, returning to his favoured “focusing on our football” response. But he’s conceded that Kane’s 'will he/won’t he' status dragging on isn’t something he can easily ignore. However, he’s refused to issue a deadline to his star man and believes he’ll still have him available for the English Premier League opener away to London rivals Brentford on 12 August. "Fair to say I am not relaxed about it!” Postecoglou said.

“It’s not something you go: ‘Ah, well, you know if it does or doesn’t happen!’ I mean it’s a very important part of this football club, not just the team, but the football club. He is such a massive figure, and as I have said already, whilst my focus isn't on it on a daily basis because I’ve got other things I need to do, I know that every time I am talking to you guys, or whenever Harry is going to talk, that’s the first question you are going to get.

"So, you’ve got to deal with it, and I think, for everyone concerned, we don’t want to be doing it for too long. I don’t think that is good for anyone. I don’t think it is good for Harry, I don’t think it is good for the club, because as laser focused as we want to be, you end up sort of repeating yourself along the way.
