Ex-Man United star makes Harry Kane point and names three players who will benefit from Rasmus Hojlund

Manchester United have been told Harry Kane is the 'new Teddy Sheringham' and should be brought in to help Rasmus Hojlund.

On Saturday the Reds announced they had signed Hojlund from Atalanta for a fee of £72m. However, MEN Sport understands the Dane will miss United's first Premier League match of the season on Monday due to an injury picked up in the Serie A side's pre-season schedule.

While the injury is not serious, there have been calls from some for United to make another move for Tottenham's talisman Kane. At the beginning of the transfer window, the England captain was Erik ten Hag's top priority.

However, interest died down after Daniel Levy was reluctant to sell. Bayern Munich are now favourites to sign the striker but former United man Alan Smith believes the Reds should still look to bring Kane in.

"I think Man United should move for Kane despite already signing Hojlund because he’s only 20, he’s a young lad," he told Gambling Zone. "He’d be able to learn from Kane. He’s more of an old-fashioned number nine, whereas Hojlund is a little more in behind.

"I feel there’s space for one more and there could be a surprise towards the end of the transfer window, and it could be Kane. I can’t really think of anyone else who would fit the bill to play up front for Man United, no one jumps out other than Harry Kane.

"I’m sure everyone would like to see Harry Kane there, he would also be a loss to English football if he went to Bayern. He’s probably thinking his legacy may be ruined if leaves Tottenham for Man
