Dan Gore reaction to Harry Maguire and other Manchester United moments missed vs Athletic Bilbao

Manchester United's fringe players ended pre-season with a 1-1 draw against Athletic Bilbao in Dublin's Aviva Stadium.

The Reds picked a strong side on Saturday against Lens at Old Trafford, suggesting Erik ten Hag would pick a weaker side in the Republic of Ireland. This proved to be the case as many of United's first-team stars stayed in the UK while the back-up options and youngsters were given a chance to impress their manager one final time before the season opener against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

One player who failed to do so was Harry Maguire. Just before the half-hour mark, it was his misplaced pass that led to the only goal of the first half as Nico Williams chipped Tom Heaton.

After the break the friendly went up a notch when Aitor Paredes was sent off for blocking Hannibal Mejbri from getting through on goal. Deep into stoppage time Facundo Pellistri took advantage to score following a knockdown by Maguire who made amends for his earlier error.

Despite being one of the junior members of the United squad, Dan Gore was not afraid to make his case for a regular place in the matchday squad. Before his mistake which led to the goal, Maguire had failed to move for a pass and the teenage central midfielder was quick to tell the former captain his thoughts.

While only a small moment, it did show Gore's confidence with his position in the United squad to call out a senior player. He will be hoping to play a bigger part in the upcoming season.
