Ange names 3 Celtic transfer crown jewels that gave him 'grace' before installing winning machine

Ange Postecoglou reckons three key signings he made at Celtic gave him ultimate grace with punters when it wasn't going his way.

The Australian earned the plaudits on the pitch after his two years in Glasgow saw him pull down the curtain on a Treble-winning campaign before being lured to the dizzying heights of the Premier League with Tottenham Hotspur. And much like he did when at Celtic, the 58-year-old is taking on the added weight of being heavily involved in recruitment in London. Postecoglou was said to be at the heart of bringing some of the Hoops top stars to Scotland, with his focus on talent from the Far East a telling trait.

And that's why he plans to be so hands on with Daniel Levy and Co over next moves come January, as he revealed he always felt the particular signings of talisman Kyogo, mercurially winger Jota from Benfica and, ironically, Cameron Carter-Vickers from Spurs gave him the ultimate calling card when results or performances matched up - something he admits he was rare.

He said: "Wherever I've been, I've made sure that I have the biggest say over recruitment. I don't do all the work but I really think it's an important part of my function and particularly when I first go into clubs. When you first go into a club, there are two measures that people will always put up against you. One is the results, that tells its own tale, but as a manager, and I've certainly had that experience, you can't always guarantee the results early on because you’re trying to build something and there’s going to be some ups and downs.

"The other thing you get measured on is the people you bring in. Not necessarily the ones you inherited, because people will say they weren't his choices if they're not working out.
