Ange delivers killer Tottenham response to Robbie Williams question as 'backhander' leaves him with head in hands

Robbie Williams is loving Ange Postecoglou instead - but the Tottenham boss has come undone at a press conference question that left him wondering if he's living under a rock.

The famed singer dedicated a reworked version of his classic track 'Angels' to the Aussie this week amid his eye-catching start to life in North London. Postecoglou won five trophies out of six available domestically during two years with Celtic that earned him a crack at the Premier League but his weekly press conferences often delivered a killer quip - and the same has happened at Tottenham as the 'mate' line landed.

He was asked by one journalist: "This club has had some big-name managers, real historic managers. But you have achieved something already that none of them have achieved, none of them have had a pop song about them. Firstly, Robbie Williams, do you know him and have you ever met him, and what did you think about him changing the lyrics to one of his most famous songs."

Before he could finish, Postecoglou was already head in hands with a reply to get the room chuckling loaded. He said: "That is one of the most backhanded, sort of underwhelming compliments I have ever had. 'You've had some unbelievably fantastic managers, big names, successful, and then there's you Ange.'

"And then have I ever heard of Robbie Williams? Where have I been living mate? Seriously? I love Robbie Williams, I think he's brilliant, a great entertainer. He made a song, brilliant, I think it came off the back of one of our supporters. It's great, the alternative is they make up songs about you that are less than complimentary so I will take it for what it is. But thanks mate, I will just float out of here feeling good about myself."
