Andy Robertson outlines Liverpool FC dressing room approach to Man City fixture

Liverpool's squad have identified their home fixture with Manchester City as an opportunity to kick-start their season and start moving back up the Premier League table.

Jurgen Klopp's side are 10th and 13 points behind City, albeit with a game in hand, and could slip to 16 points behind the Blues if they are beaten on Sunday at Anfield. Alternatively, a Liverpool win over City and then against West Ham in the week could close the gap to seven points with both sides having played the same number of fixtures.

And speaking after the impressive 7-1 Champions League win at Rangers on Wednesday, defender Andy Robertson feels that they can take that performance into the City game and be a catalyst for turning around their poor form this season.

"Sunday is a massive game, of course it is," Robertson said. "We need to try and get consistency back into our performances, back into our game. We have to keep that going, we have to keep up the intensity and then we'll pick up a few more results.

"The game against Manchester City this weekend will always be difficult, they're a fantastic side and they are flying at the minute. It will be difficult to play against them but us at our best we can always compete. Anything below that and it will be a difficult afternoon. But if we're at our best then we know we can cause problems to any team and that is what we have to aim for."

Robertson also pointed to teammate Mohamed Salah's impressive six-minute hat-trick at Rangers as a confidence-booster
