Andy Goram tributes pour in for Rangers legend as Barry Ferguson labels him a 'personal hero'

The football world have started to share their well wishes for Rangers legend Andy Goram.

The keeper is currently in hospital receiving treatment for cancer, it has been confirmed.

Nicknamed "The Goalie", he became a hero at Ibrox as he stared as the Govan sides No.1 during their Nine In A Row years.

Goram won five league titles, three Scottish Cups and two League Cups with the Light Blues.

He also enjoyed spells with Oldham, Hibs, Motherwell and Manchester United during his long career, with 43 Scotland caps under his belt.

Rangers took to social media to share the terrible news earlier this evening.

Thousands have since responded, wishing the 58-year-old all the best.

Fellow ex-Gers player Barry Ferguson spared a thought for "The Goalie" whilst appearing on Go Radio tonight.

He said: "Growing up a Rangers supporter he was certainly one of my heroes.

"Fantastic goalkeeper.

"Sad news, but listen, he is a fighter and I am sure everybody will echo what I have said and Rangers will do everything they can to try and help him out."

EFL League Two side Oldham Athletic shared a post in response to the news.

Goram began his career as a youngster at the Greater Manchester club before making his way north to join Hibs and Rangers.

Oldham's Tweet read: "As a club, we are sending our thoughts and well wishes to Andy and his family during this difficult time."

Goram's most memorable playing spell came during his time at Rangers, but his career continued for quite some time after he left Ibrox.

He joined Queen of the South for a season at the age of 38.

The club took to Twitter following the news.

"Everyone at Queen of the South send our best wishes to former goalkeeper Andy Goram at this time."
