Andreas Weimann sends message to Bristol City fans after helping club seal win over Reading
Bristol City winger Andreas Weimann has taken to Twitter to praise the club’s fans for helping his side get over the line in their clash with Reading yesterday.
The Robins had to deal with some late pressure from the Royals at Ashton Gate as their opponents pushed for an equaliser.
However, thanks to some resilient defending, the hosts managed to secure all three points in-front of their supporters.
Weimann played a key role in the opening goal of this fixture as he teed up Antoine Semenyo who fired home from close range.
Following the break, the Robins doubled their advantage as Cameron Pring’s cross was diverted into his own net by Reading defender Michael Morrison.
The Royals were handed an opportunity to get back into the game when Tom Ince was brought down in the penalty area by Timm Klose.
John Swift converted from the spot to set up a nervy finish to this fixture for the Robins who were able to hold on to their advantage.
Reflecting on his side’s latest display on Twitter, Weimann praised the club’s fans for the role that they played in this victory.
The 30-year-old posted: “Massive 3 points last night.
“Had to dig deep at the end but you guys got us over the line.
“See you on Sunday.”
