Viktor Gyokeres sends message to Coventry City supporters after club’s latest victory

Coventry City forward Viktor Gyokeres has taken to Twitter to praise the club’s fans for the support that they illustrated during last night’s clash with Bristol City.

Gyokeres helped his side seal all three points at Ashton Gate by netting a dramatic winner during the closing stages of this particular fixture.

Coventry opened the scoring in the 26th minute of the game as Ian Maatsen fired past Robins goalkeeper Daniel Bentley after being set up by Gustavo Hamer.

Following the break, the hosts went close to levelling proceedings as Antoine Semenyo’s header struck the woodwork.

The Robins equalised in the 62nd minute as Chris Martin netted his ninth league goal of the 2021/22 campaign.

With the game seemingly set to end in a draw, Gyokeres stepped up to the mark for the visitors as he scored the winning goal in the dying embers of this fixture.

As a result of this triumph, Coventry moved up to eighth in the Championship standings.

Reflecting on his side’s latest display on Twitter, Gyokeres has admitted that he was happy to add to his overall goal tally in this fixture whilst he also praised the club’s fans for their support.

The forward posted: “Back to back wins.

“A great goal from @maatsen_ian aka Van Basten.

“Happy to get one as well.

“Support was unbelievable.

“Lets goooo.”
