Amy Dowden says 'there are no words' as she speaks out on surprise Strictly Come Dancing return

Amy Dowden has told fans that there are 'no words' as she spoke out the morning after her return to Strictly Come Dancing. The dancer left fans emotional as she made an appearance during the show on Saturday night (October 7).

Amy has been forced to miss out on competition in the BBC One dance contest this year after being diagnosed with stage three breast cancer. The 33-year-old dancer announced in June that she had undergone a mastectomy after discovering she had stage three breast cancer.

The Caerphilly-born star then later confirmed after her surgery that doctors found another type of cancer which she described as a “massive blow” as it meant she would not be able to compete in Strictly this year as she'd have to undergo chemotherapy.

Despite not being able to compete on the show with a celebrity partner this year, Amy made a surprise entry from behind a golden fringe wall, looking gorgeous in a white glittery dress, to read the show’s terms and conditions.

The show's professional dancers were cheering "Amy" following her surprise appearance and after reading the T&C's for viewers' voting, Amy said: "I’ve missed you all”, before adding as Claudia Winklemna asked how she was: "I’m doing really well, I’m over halfway through treatment, through chemo, and I can’t wait to be back with you all permanently."

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, Strictly shared their delight at seeing Amy back on their screens. @cfs123plays said: "Fantastic to see Amy on the show tonight . #Strictly" as @snoopsaj tweeted: "Aww amy you go
