Ammanford school stabbing: Teen girl found guilty of attempting to murder two teachers and a fellow pupil during morning break

A teenage girl who stabbed two teachers and a pupil at Ysgol Dyffryn Aman with her dad's multi-tool has been found guilty of attempted murder. The pupil at the school had admitted three counts of inflicting grievous harm with intent but denied attempted murder. A jury found her guilty on all counts.

The defendant, who cannot be named because of her age, attacked deputy head teacher Fiona Elias, teacher Liz Hopkin, and a female pupil during the school's morning break on April 24 last year.

During the trial, the court heard that the teachers thought they were going to die during the attacks. The jury were also told that she wrote disturbing entries in a notebook including 'Why do I want to kill others as much as I want to kill myself"

Jurors were also shown CCTV of the terrifying moment the girl stabbed teachers and a pupil during the incident.

In her defence, the girl took to the witness box and said she would be bullied "three or four" times a week in the Ammanford school and as a result felt "anxious and scared all the time".

She said she had no intention of hurting anyone and no intention of killing anyone. She said: "It just doesn’t sound like me". Asked if she was sorry, the defendant said, "yes", and, asked if she would change things if she could go back in time, she again said, "yes".

During the cross-examination, it was put to the defendant that she had "targeted" the pupil who she stabbed, and there had been other girls standing around which she did not stab - the defendant said she could not remember. She denied wanting to kill the girl though accepted she hated her.
