Amad has four weeks to secure his perfect Manchester United role

As Erik ten Hag and the rest of Manchester United's coaching team made their way back to the dressing room at half-time, they must have been encouraged by Amad's showing in the opening 45 minutes in Oslo.

The Ivorian, who excelled on loan at Sunderland last season, started on the right at the Ullevaal Stadion and he was the most potent of United's front-three. He frequently got on the ball, attempted to make something happen and gave Leeds United's defenders something to think about.

Though his finishing was slightly rusty, he offered far more to catch Ten Hag's eye than fellow attackers Jadon Sancho and Omari Forson did. He was lively, vibrant and displayed the characteristics of someone with a point to prove.

After the success of last season's stint on Wearside, all eyes are fixated on Amad this summer. He scored 14 goals and grabbed four assists in 42 appearances, earning widespread plaudits, both from those of a Sunderland persuasion and those keeping a watchful eye on him back in M16.

But despite the success of that loan spell, Amad has now got to live up to the challenge of being able to produce similar standards in United colours, where the pressure is more severe and unforgiving. Nevertheless, he is expected to be given an opportunity to prove himself in pre-season over the next few weeks.

He is expected to be included in the squad that will travel to Edinburgh to face Lyon on Wednesday afternoon before flying to the USA for the pre-season tour. United have four fixtures penciled in while in the States,
