Erik ten Hag has earned a reputation for making ruthless decisions during his time in charge of Manchester United, and now he has another one to make after a disastrous start to the season.

United fell to their sixth defeat from their opening 10 matches of the new campaign as they twice let a lead slip in their terrible 3-2 home defeat by Galatasaray on Tuesday night.

It is harsh to label Andre Onana the sole reason for their latest loss, or any of them in fact, given the wider issues at play, but it has now reached the point where he, like any effort on goal, is hard to defend any more.

The Cameroonian struggled in the first few matches of the season and should have been punished for his wild challenge on Sasa Kalajdzic against Wolves, but his first inexcusable error was his howler against Bayern Munich last month.

Even that error against Bayern was hardly the reason for United's defeat, but against Galatasaray, he reached a new low with a terrible display that directly contributed to the loss.

It was his careless pass that led to a penalty and a red card, which swung the game in the visitors favour, and his poor decision-making that saw him commit far too early when Mauro Icardi made amends for his penalty miss from a one-on-one shortly afterwards.
