Neil Warnock as Rangers next manager 'imagined' as Alan Brazil floats madcap double ticket for Ibrox dugout

Playful Alan Brazil gleefully read out a loaded invention to Ally McCoist which claimed soon-to-be free agent Neil Warnock was honing in on Ibrox.

The legendary Englishman will leave Huddersfield after Wednesday's game with Stoke City but isn't ready to call it a day at the age of 74. And Brazil quickly shrugged off Celtic's defeat to Feyenoord as he went on the offensive to windnup his sparring partner over the possibility of both Warnock and McCoist providing a one-two punch to get Ibrox rocking.

The broadcaster produced a newspaper which he claimed was in his lap and read to McCoist what it said about Warnock heading north. Rangers boss Michael Beale secured a win over St Johnstone to ease the pressure surrounding him after galling defeats to PSV and Celtic before the international break.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Brazil said: "Neil Warnock for Rangers?" McCoist responded: "Michael Beale, I wouldn't imagine, is under any massive degree of pressure, I still think he has a bit of time."

Brazil added: "Wee Neil is quoted in it 'they are in my heart and I would love to take McCoist as my No.2'." McCoist said: "It's a brilliant offer from Neil but I cannot leave you, Al. You would go to pieces if I left you. I enjoy our debriefs."
