Ally McCoist sees NO cause for Scotland panic as Tartan Army boo boys told there's one thing they're missing

Optimistic Ally McCoist asked if he should be more worried than he is about Scotland's recent plight - and was given a reassuring answer from Andy Townsend.

Scotland are now winless in seven games and Tuesday night's Hampden defeat to Northern Ireland was one of the worst performances of the Steve Clarke era. The Scots have fallen out of the habit of winning after storming to Euro 2024 qualification and that's a worry for many ahead of the kick-off against Germany in June.

Boos were heard around Hampden but McCoist has called for some perspective. It was only a friendly after all and while an incapability to take chances, particularly against the Dutch, is ringing some alarm bells, the message from McCoist was clear: 'We'll be alright.'

Speaking to co-host Townsend, McCoist said on talkSPORT: "Should I be more worried than I am? You said earlier about having someone who can nick a goal when you're not playing well and that's so important. That's one of the problems we have.

"The game over in the Netherlands was probably more significant in that respect because we should have easily scored two or three goals, hit the crossbar a couple of times. I'm a little bit concerned about us in front of goal.

"Listen, I think we'll be alright. I'm not overly concerned. I'm not sitting here saying the England fans should take it easy about the two friendlies and then saying something different about Scotland. We could do with a win, but I am not overly concerned."
