John Souttar admits Rangers dreams didn't match reality as second season sees him make up for lost time

John Souttar says his clean bill of health in a Rangers shirt is making up for lost time and insists he is determined to give fans something to remember as the season reaches its climax.

Last weekend's thrilling 3-3 draw with Celtic has left the Light Blues trailing their rivals at the top of the table by a single point, but Philippe Clement's men have played a game less. Souttar endured an injury ravaged first season in Govan following his move from Hearts, when he was restricted to just 13 outings in all competitions.

However, the Scotland international has brushed aside those issues to appear 35 times in all competitions so far this season, forming a strong defensive partnership with Connor Goldson. The 27-year-old is delighted to have been able to put a testing year at Ibrox behind him and form a key cog in Clement's side that are hoping to wrestle the Premiership crown back from Celtic.

Speaking to the media ahead of Sunday's clash with Ross County, he said: "Everyone knows last season was far from ideal for me; it wasn't what I dreamed of when I signed here.

"This season, so far, I've made up for lost time in the games that I've played and minutes that I've had on the pitch. When I look back in the summer, hopefully it's a great ending and we'll be doing everything in the dressing room to make sure it's one to remember for the rest of our lives.

"My full focus is on Rangers. It's massive for us with six or seven weeks being left, and everyone knows what's at stake. For me, my full focus is on every game. I know it's cliched, but it's so important that we go into every game with full concentration, belief in what we've been doing, and we stick to what got us into this position.
