Ally McCoist reveals the Rangers pact he'd make as he tips Ryan Kent to make 'ridiculous' Ibrox roar

Confident Ally McCoist is backing blue as he believes Rangers can come up trumps against Union Saint-Gilloise in their crucial Champions League qualifier.

The 59-year-old is under no Illusions his former team are up against it as Gio van Bronckhorst plots a comeback after the shock 2-0 defeat in the first leg in Leuven. The Dutchman pulled no punches and neither is the club's all-time goalscorer – who knows things must improve at fortress Ibrox if a comeback is to happen.

Rangers are aiming to end a 12-year-wait to return to the Champions League group stage and McCoist is backing returning pair Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos. Speaking to talkSPORT, he said: "Aw man, you just have to think about last season (atmosphere), you can ask Adrian Durham, Adrian says that Leipzig game was the most incredible atmosphere he's ever experienced anywhere in football, and that's a bit of a statement from a guy who is out at football nine days a week.

"I've heard the old stadium has some atmosphere but last season was ridiculous, really ridiculous, especially Leipzig, also Dortmund. It will need to be the same again tonight, because we were really poor in the first game, we weren't good at all.

"We got beat 2-0 and the second goal was an absolutely disgraceful decision. The referee got called over to VAR, looked over it at the side of the park, and, for some reason, known only to him and the guy who called him over, gave one of the worst penalty decisions I've seen in years.

"He then booked Connor Goldson for handball when he didn't know it happened. That said, I don't have a complaint about the result because we were poor and probably deserved to be beaten 2-0, but I have a problem with the VAR decision for the penalty.
