Ryan Kent Rangers commitment questioned as Barry Ferguson points to the transfer clock in 'nitty gritty' warning

Disappointed Barry Ferguson has pushed Ryan Kent to "show commitment" to Rangers following his display in the Champions League playoff stalemate with PSV Eindhoven.

The winger is out of contract at Rangers next summer and the Ibrox side are likely to be keen on holding on to one of their most influential players after after impressing on route to the Europa League final last term. The 25-year-old has been regularly linked with a return to the English Premier League since penning a permanent deal with The Light Blues back in 2019, and impressed against during the scintillating 2-2 first leg.

Former Rangers captain Ferguson admits he is desperate to see the forward pen a new deal to keep him in the Scottish Premiership, but reckons talks could be on hold until after the crucial second leg next week in the Netherlands. Speaking on The Go Radio Football Show, Ferguson put the wide man in the same mould as Celtic star Jota.

He said: "Kent was good (last night.) I am a big fan of Ryan Kent. I think when he is on it, he is a match winner, similar to Jota. But his contract is up at the end of the season. I need to see a bit of commitment.

"Whether they are waiting until this game in Eindhoven to see if Rangers do progress or not (I don't know), but if Rangers do win and want to challenge for things they have to keep a player like Kent. I'm just greedy.

"I want a better end product. There is no doubt he has got fantastic ability, but I am looking to see more goals. As a wide player I would be looking at 10-12 goals a season. He is a player who I think highly of.
