Aljamain Sterling offers some advice to 'wishful' 17-year-old Raul Rosas Jr

UFC bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling has offered some advice to 17-year-old star Raul Rosas Jr.

Just a few short weeks ago on Dana White’s Contender Series, we saw Raul Rosas Jr make history.

The teenage sensation was able to defeat Mando Gutierrez via unanimous decision in a one-sided affair, earning himself a UFC contract in the process.

Dana White couldn’t help but praise just how good this kid is and when you consider that he’s just 6-0, it really does make you wonder how far he can go in the sport of mixed martial arts.

Of course, it’s easy to get too far ahead of yourself in this game, which is why it’ll be great for him to slowly but surely work his way up through the bantamweight division with smart booking.

The man at the top of the pile, Aljamain Sterling, recently spoke about Rosas Jr’s rise to prominence.

“Be hungry, be passionate, be ambitious, which Rosas is, very ambitious. Take full advantage of that spotlight, but be smart in that process. I always say keep your enemies close because there’s always things that you could learn from those ‘enemies’, instead of trying to make everyone against you.

“He wants to be champ by the time he’s 19 or 20 years old. Hey man, the world is your oyster, go for it. If you think you can get it done, go ahead and get it done, but I think it’s very, very wishful thinking in my personal opinion. Not saying it can’t be done but the youngest guy was Jon Jones and to think he’s going to outdo Jon, without the accolades?
