Alison Hammond shuts down awkward scenes as Vanessa Feltz fumes 'don't ask me then' in 'strange' This Morning caller clash

Alison Hammond appeared quick to move on as This Morning turned awkward during the show's latest phone-in. The presenter was back fronting the programme on Wednesday (July 19) alongside Dermot O'Leary when they were joined by Vanessa Feltz.

Vanessa appeared early on in the programme when she joined the hosts for the latest 'This Morning's View' segment in which Alison and Dermot go through the biggest news stories and other talked about topics with two of their regular guests.

She then returned later in the show to host her latest phone-in as This Morning asked viewers to get in touch with any problems they're having as the wedding season gets into full swing.

But things appeared to get a bit tense between Vanessa and caller Jane who shared her wedding predicament. She told Vanessa, Alison and Dermot that her niece had told her not to wear the new handbag she'd purchased for her big day because the colour matched the bridesmaid dresses.

And while Alison and Dermot appeared to be in agreement about the request being outrageous, Vanessa felt differently. She told Jane to go along with the request to avoid an unnecessary conflict. "Take the bag she says and don't fall out with her over a handbag at the wedding, don't do it," the 61-year-old urged.

"Oh, really?" Jane then asked, to which Vanessa replied: "Yeah, really." Jane responded with just a 'hmm' as Vanessa repeated: "Really." Dermot then chimed in as he said: "I get the sense [she disagrees]," before laughing as Jane explained: "I spent £90 on that handbag, which is a lot of money to me."
