Alfredo Morelos sees Rangers twist added to Santos transfer unveiling as Colombian's European wish falls flat

Alfredo Morelos has had his Rangers best bits used in his Santos unveiling as he finds a new club.

The Colombian international has been searching for a new place to play all summer after leaving Ibrox following the expiry of his Premiership contract. He has been able to sign a deal with other clubs since January and watched a move to Turkish side Fenerbahce fall through following talks in Istanbul. And now he has had his next destination confirmed.

He has left Europe to return to South America with the Brazilian giants, who he has agreed a five-year deal with. And as the club teased his imminent unveiling, Morelos' Rangers goal montage was wheeled out for fans to get a glimpse of what they hope their new import will bring. A short club statement on the signing reads: "Welcome! The 27-year-old Colombian striker arrives to reinforce Peixao with a contract valid until August 31, 2025. On top of them!"

It's a move that goes against the striker's early summer wish, which was to remain in Europe, amid Russian links that eventually fell flat. He said in July: "I have made it clear I want to stay in Europe and play football there. We are currently working towards making that happen.

"No, I still don't have anything and there is nothing close, but hopefully something interesting will come up. I am calm and relaxed about the situation. I have been able to spend a lot of time with my family for a change.

"That has been nice. I want to play in a good European league which my family would enjoy. I am looking forward to the new season, just as I did every single season when I was at Rangers."
