Alejandro Garnacho let himself down with Manchester United penalty reaction vs Everton

Alejandro Garnacho is everything Manchester United could wish for in a footballer: creative, skilful, energetic and passionate.

He was the star of the show in Saturday's 2-0 win over Everton at Old Trafford, winning the two penalties that helped United seal a much-needed victory after back-to-back Premier League defeats. Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford both scored from 12 yards to put the game to bed by half-time.

It moved United back to within eight points of the top four and ensured they got back on track at the first available opportunity after being beaten 3-1 by Manchester City in the derby. However, the performance, once again, was far from perfect as Everton racked up 23 shots.

It was the fifth time in United's last six matches they had allowed an opponent to fire north of 20 shots at Andre Onana's goal. It is an unsustainable record that Erik ten Hag and his players need to address for the run-in.

At the other end, United had 15 shots, eight of which were on target, and could have upped that tally had they demonstrated more composure and awareness when openings presented themselves. Garnacho failed to hit the target on two occasions. It is an area of his game that he needs to work on.

There is an expectation on the Argentine's shoulders to score goals but he is also expected to create them.
