Alejandro Garnacho decision, seven signings, Liverpool hijack - Man United dream 2025/26 squad
Manchester United have suffered a disappointing 2024/25 season. Despite showing signs of encouragement under Ruben Amorim, at times, United are set to make history for all the wrong reasons.
With eight games left to play, United sit 13th in the Premier League table and are on course to record their worst-ever finish since the competition was started in 1992.
The Europa League has given them some hope of finishing the campaign on a high. Whatever happens between now and the end of the season, Amorim is expected to push for an overhaul of his squad for his first full season in charge.
Fortunately, there are some areas of the Portuguese's squad that are stronger than others. At least one signing will be needed in attack and midfield, best-case scenario, even more.
With that being said, we have taken a look at what Amorim's dream squad could look like for the start of the 2025/26 season...
Andre Onana cost £47.2million in 2023 and it's fair to say his move hasn't worked out completely. However, unless Amorim can bring in a new number one who is clearly better than him, it's hard to see United changing their man inbetween the sticks.
Porto's Diogo Costa has been on their radar for some time and this summer looks destined as the right time for him to move away from Portugal. At 25, he is four years younger than Onana and is of better quality.
Altay Bayindir has been the second-choice goalkeeper this season and when called-upon, has been terrific. But he isn't expected to be granted an opportunity to become the number one anytime soon.
As a second choice, he's superb. If he pushes for a move away in search of first-team football, United have been linked with two goalkeepers from Championship like Freddie Woodman and Aynsley
