Albion Rovers captain Sean Fagan has joined Lowland League rivals East Kilbride, after the Coatbridge club brought in a young defender in on loan from Kilmarnock.

Ethan Brown, 18, has signed a deal at the Cliftonhill club until the end of this season, while Fagan joins the K-Park club on an undisclosed fee.

Meanwhile, Rovers goalkeeper Ross Connelly has signed a contract extension until the end of next season.

Fagan, 23, joined Rovers back in 2018 and made 151 appearances, scoring six times.

A statement issued by the club read: “The centre-half was made club captain and has helped the team record the best defensive record in the Scottish Lowland Football League.

“We wish Sean all the best in the future, and thank him for his outstanding service to Albion Rovers.”

Interim chairman Bobby Cameron said: “Sean has been a brilliant servant to the football club since joining back in 2018, and he has always carried himself as a true professional.

“He has been a fantastic player for us and has grown so much since his debut.

“In his role as captain this season, he has been an integral part of the group.

“He leaves with our best wishes and is without a doubt a player that Rovers supporters will remember as the perfect example of a player you want to attract to your football club.”

Canadian teen Brown was with Orlando City before moving to Scotland and is highly rated within Killie’s youth ranks.

Brown has previously been on loan at Cumnock in the West of Scotland Premier League, and captained Kilmarnock’s reserve team.

He joins Aaron Quigg who is also on a loan deal from Rugby Park.
