Albert Vete setback confirmed but Hull KR in good shape for Leigh Centurions tie

Hull KR prop Albert Vete is facing two to three weeks on the sidelines after sustaining a calf injury in last week's defeat to Catalans Dragons.

The front-rower came off the bench in Perpignan but was unable to finish the game as Rovers were edged out by the hosts.

Vete will sit out Saturday's Challenge Cup meeting with Leigh Centurions and is also likely to miss next week's Super League game against Warrington Wolves, a fresh setback after serving a two-match ban earlier in the season.

In more positive news, KR assistant coach Stanley Gene confirmed that Will Dagger and Sam Wood have quickly overcome the knocks they picked up at Stade Gilbert Brutus.

"Will Dagger is doing really well and is back in full training," said Gene, who was standing in for the absent Tony Smith.

"Albie is probably looking at two or three weeks but we've got a scan back in so we've got to wait and see. I don't think it's serious.

"Sam Wood is good and has been training all this week."

The Robins were without Lachlan Coote, Kane Linnett, Matt Parcell and Dean Hadley against Catalans, as well as long-term absentee Luis Johnson.

Coote could be held back once again and Hadley is likely to remain sidelined but Linnett and Parcell are set to return this weekend.

"Lachlan is fit and has been training this week," Gene added.

"I think Tony might think about giving him a rest but he's training with us.

"Dean Hadley probably won't make the 21. He's struggling with his injury and is working with the medical staff and rehab staff, but it's not serious.

"All the rest are raring to go."

Coaches often use the cup as an opportunity to rest and rotate after a demanding start to the Super League season.
