Airdrie snap up towering defender as former Sheffield United man becomes latest signing

Airdrie have signed English defender Sam Graham ahead of today's Premier Sports Cup clash with Dundee.

Graham, 24, was last with FC Fylde, and the 6ft 3ins centre- back has also played with Sheffield United and Notts County, as well as a spell in Australia with Central Coast Mariners.

He told the club’s website: “I’m pleased to get it done and over the line, and hopefully I can get playing as soon as possible.

“I like to play out, I can mix it up, going long or coming shorter. I’m an aggressive defender and I like keeping the ball out of the net and getting clean sheets.

“My aim is just to really enjoy playing football and for the team to finish as high up the table as we can.”

Assistant boss Aaron Taylor-Sinclair said: “It’s good to get Sam in, obviously we needed cover in that area and he was keen to come.

“He has all the attributes to do well in the Scottish game, so we’re looking forward to seeing what he can do up here.”
