Airdrie ace Chris Mochrie expects Championship cracker with Falkirk

Chris Mochrie knows Airdrie have had some epic battles against Falkirk in recent years, and expects another Championship cracker on Saturday.

Newly-promoted Bairns won last season’s League One title with an unbeaten run, and have won all four of their league games this term.

But Mochrie, who joined from Dundee United in the summer, says the Diamonds have nothing to fear, and Falkirk’s ‘invincibles’ tag doesn’t come into it.

“We’ve just got to treat it like another game,” said Mochrie. “Fair play to Falkirk for doing so well recently, but if we play well we’re more than good enough to beat them.

“Airdrie have had a couple of really good results against Falkirk in the past, so there’s nothing to fear, and we’ve got to go into it with a lot of confidence. We’ve had a couple of really tough results, and it was about how we could bounce back.

“Last week at Hamilton [2-2 draw] gave us a wee bit of momentum, we continued that on Saturday, and hopefully we can keep that going.

“Falkirk have been really good, it will be a really tough game, and it’s something that we will prepare for well, and go into it with a bit of confidence. Hopefully we can play well, and make a good account of ourselves.”

Mochrie, 21, is a product of the Dundee United Academy and had a loan spell at Dunfermline, so is used to lining up against Falkirk.

He said: “I played Falkirk quite a few times with United and Dunfermline, and when I was there it was a massive game.

“Falkirk are a team that likes to play football, like ourselves, so it should be a good game to watch, and hopefully we can come out on the right side of it.I think our home form is going to be massive this season and it’s something that we’re looking forward to. Hopefully we can get a good
